I get lost of advice from lots of people and you know what I just try to ignore it. From shoes to haircuts to sweets I am inundated with advice. Some of it is helpful and most well-meaning but mostly I just ignore it and do my own thing.
Lately though I've been forced to eat my words. I must admit I have changed my mind about at least three things I was advised against. Well, not so much changed my mind as bent my rules.
About the haircut, it's really out of control and he looks a bit like a clown with curls on the two sides and on top. I will be sad to see them cut off, but he does look a little strange.
As for the shoes, well I still swear by soft shoes as often as possible. But it's become difficult taking him to play in the park in soft soled shoes now that it's so cold and wet outside. The soles of Robeez are like moccasins and they get wet very easily. I bought him the shoes pictured in the last post for his rugged outdoor trekking. I will say that he walks like Frankenstein in hard soled shoes. He looked up at me like "what the hell ?" when I tried them on him. His balance isn't as good in them either. Like I said it's soft soled as much as possible, but unfortunately they just aren't made for all the activities of an alpine winter.
Finally I will admit that I've given him an occasional chocolate nibble here and there. I even made him a little hot chocolate bottle the other day when we came in from the cold. He loved it. It's not nearly what many French grandmothers and mothers give their children, but it pretty much threw my rule of no sweets before age two out the window.
Okay I've fessed up. I feel much better now.
