Story time

Today we went to the bibliothèque for baby story time. Cassandra came along too with her little guy, who as I have mentioned before is one week older than Baby S. We find that odd because our little village here is so small and the average age of someone living here is way beyond retired. The fact that we had babies born here the same week is amazing.

The story time was cute, with some songs and a few brightly colored books read by two shy librarians with absolutely no theatrical training, said with the utmost sarcasm mind you. But hey it was a baby party and Baby S loved it. He especially enjoyed being in the center of the pack of scrappy-haired, pigtailed chic little girls you see in the picture. He's the one in red with the sunlight glaring on his face. "Hey man, no wonder nobody wanted to sit here..."

We learned this cute song, and I say "we" because although every single mother was able to sing along, this mother had no idea what the song was. It was a song about making crêpes :

Les Crêpes

Quand on fait des crêpes chez nous
ma mère nous invite
Quand on fait des crêpes chez nous
on nous invite tous

Une pour toi
Une pour moi
Une pour mon petit frère François
Une pour toi
Une pour moi
Une pour tous les trois

Of course now I can't get the damn song out of my head...."quand on fait des crêpes chez nous..."

Don't feel bad my French husband doesn't know it either. I would have felt weird and homesick...you are a brave woman. I need to get out more like that.

Maybe it's more obscure than I thought. Seb didn't know it either! But then again he barely knows the words to "Frére Jacques"
