The melting snow

Yawn...We're back from our little holiday with the in-laws.

It was lovely to be in the mountains. We live in the mountains but we live near the lake so the mountains are 30 minutes or so behind us. The slopes are just a sneeze away and we have the lake to stare at all year long. It's what I like to call a slice or two of paradise. We kind of have it all. I have to pinch myself and keep reminding myself of that.

The snow was melting at a deadly rate all week long in Les Gets so I boded my non-ski time with mother-in-law and Baby S visiting the shops in town, walking in the slushy snow, and checking out the very picturesque Thursday morning market with all its yummy sausages and cheeses.

I got along with the in-laws because of course I just molded myself into their little routine. There really was no choice in the matter. They usually have a great routine, everything planned out. We had fun.

We went to the church concert on Tuesday night to hear a chorale concer. I was really eager to hear some music.

Funny stuff ...

-eating lunch at 12:01 and setting the table at 11:30, something I never do.
-mil´s teeth in a jar on the bathroom shelf each night
-being awakened at 7:15 by someone peeing
- fil saying "les anglais sont partout ici!"
-lavender scented bathroom spray...New With 20 Percent Less Cancerogens!

Great post!

We lived with my in-laws for 16 (!) months, so I totally understand what you went through.

I'm salivating at those saucisse. I love the ones that are covered in that powder. And I've yet to find them in Vancouver...

I must be dumb or something but I do hope one day they will have sausages like that just right in front of my face..

Oh I was addicted to them....

I'm sure you are happy to be home... No music and people watching over your back all the time is certainly not fun!

ooooh you get lots of bonus points for enduring the teeth thing alone!

when they scold you for not disciplining your son, just tell them that you beat him in private, and just don't want to upset them.

Yeah for taking one for the team! I guess that if you have to get stranded with in-laws, it may as well happen in the mountains of France. . .

No music? What gives? Your story made me laugh (especially your MIL false teeth, and racehorse-style peeing)! My in-laws aren't quite as strict, but they do have their set routine. And if you disrupt that routine....watch out! lol
