A loverly weekend

click on the photo grid for closer look at what we did over the weekend

So I ask you, how could I not have fun visiting my wonderful, sista-buddy Riana off in her adorable little sea village cottage house? How could this not be so? Well, what if for example ... I had a gargantuous toothache and had to have an emergency dental visit before leaving maybe? Hmmm. well, noooo. But then what if I had a finger practically amputated while cutting carrots the morning before I loaded the car to meet Seb? No, no, not really. Then what about if my dear sweet husband had to work the Saturday morning before leaving, sort of a last minute thing that delayed us and made him deathly tired all day? Nope. And what if it rained and rained the whole way there and then rained some more when we got there? No way. Get out of town. We had fun no matter what obstacles were in our path!

First of all Riana and Benji had one of their clandestine restaurant dinners on the Saturday night and I got to help. It was lots of fun, but also a lot of work for everyone. I didn't mind the serving and helping out, it was fun to be in the bustle of the evening, but I think the hosts will not be opening a Chinese take away anytime soon. Very busy little bees they were! You can read all about it on her food blog. The food was really amazing by the way. She made her own moo-shu pancakes for Pete's sake!

Then on Easter Sunday Riana chained herself to the stove yet again for just a few minutes to make a roast lamb and crack open about four dozen oysters. We dined like pigs and and enjoyed everything immensely, although we probably couldn't say so because our mouths were too busy swirling food around like washing machines. It was really good! She also made homemade strawberry and vanilla ice cream for dessert. The woman should have a superhero costume I have to say. She can bring home the bacon AND fry it up in a pan.

We basically spent the whole weekend gabbing about everything under the sun, going to vide greniers ie flea markets, which we both adore doing, and where we got nothing for under one euro mind you except at the very end when I got this gorgeous little antique mirror for 50 centimes, one of my favorite finds go figure! We sat on the beach to unwind a bit with Baby S and our guys, and we sat on the porch a bit and absorbed the Spring sunshine and studied the tourists arriving in droves, and we basically just caught up on all of the stuff we talk about every day anyway, but this time in real life instead of in pictures and detailed descriptions.

I can't wait until our next visit, ironically just around the corner. I just wish she lived a little closer. I wish I could just drop in for tea and drop off a book and make plans for the next week instead of the next season. I find that part really frustrating. It's that way with all of my friends right now though, always having big gaps between visits and then a deep plunge into amité digesting every precious minute of my time with them. There's nothing to be done about it but thank goodness that I have them at all and we can at least keep planning weekends and holidays here and there together. I consider myself lucky to have found a new friend even if it does mean a six hour drive across the country to visit, ...it's very definitely worth it.

Corey I always think of you when I go treasure hunting now! The vide grenier was just a local one, lots of "buried" treasure if you like. Those are sometimes the best ones. I wish you could have been with us!

Vide Grenier and in the South of France, 2 of my favourites (and lots of yummy food I'm sure)

I am a jealous girl. Riana lives exactly where I would LOVE to live.

I love your photo grid it's super duper. How did you do that ?

Pauline I have always told Seb we can move for his job as long as it's further South each time. He brings this up a lot when we talk about going to Lyon and moving because technically it's further South, which I guess is true in a way.

I do all my photo stuff through Picasa which you can download for free. I think you can do a grid through Flickr too.

Oh, that is a nice story! I wish we had about 50 more hours as well just to chat about everything under the sun. You have to come again!! ((Hugs))
