Well I'm back....I think this time for good. The story is quite long and I think I will embellish it with racy details about travelling through lusty vine encrusted jungled hills with a criminal lover named Raoul, or make it about the trip to Hollywood to secure Little S his first movie contract playing the adorable little brother of the Olsen twins...but alas...
1) Our computer crashed (as in the button got pushed and very strange whirring sounds emitted from inside...)
2) We gave it to back Carrefour because it was only 8 months old and still under guarantee.
3) Carrefour returned it three weeks and many phone calls later...still broken and making very strange whirring sounds.
4) We gave it back again (demonic guttural screams) and three weeks more passed...they kept asking us to, "be a little patient...jeez"
5) ...a few more weeks went by...husband can yell very loud I learn.
6) Finally they admit that they freaking lost our computer! They tell us to come in and they'd offer us a replacement of similar value.
7) When we get there with our crumpled paperwork they tell us we'll need to come back with the old mouse, keyboard, manals and original start up disks for the lost computer (why they ask this leaves us scratching our heads)...husband explodes in a frenzy and lots of customers look surprised and frightened.
8) We go back to look for the CRAP they want (keyboard was thankfully not packed for moving)
9) We go back and pick out a new HP Pavilion Compact along with the kindly manager's help.
And so thus the not so leetle saga of how we came to be computerless for over two months. And if you can believe this, the VERY SAME THING happened with our Philips vacuum cleaner six months ago at the same exact store even though the manager assured us he'd never heard of this type of thing happening before. Carrefour has a horrid reputation for customer service and I have heard stories in the past few weeks that would make Hannibal Lecter the Greengrocer seem like a good shopping alternative.
It's nice to be back .... now what did I miss?

Yay so happy you're back! I missed you! Carrefour sounds like a real arse of a company, my DH is prone to shouting at people too for far lesser offences so I think he would have exploded!
Carouf! Bah!
So glad to see you back! :)
Welcome back! Carrefour needs a good kick in the dingding.
Oh my goodness... I have been checking your blog EVERY DAY and wondering where the h - e - double hockey sticks you were!
I'm so glad you are back... I was very worried!!
Hey there! Welcome back! I guess when it comes to electronics and such, Carrefour is not the place to shop. Sorry to hear you went through so much crap!
Glad to have you back in the virtual world. Leave all your real-world Carrefour cares behind...
Yay, you're back!
Wow, for once I check back and there's a new post! Glad to hear you're online again.
Hi Christine,
I was referred to your blog by another blogger. I'd love you to volunteer to be a Mentor to expat women moving to France, on our new web site, www.ExpatWomen.com. For fear of yet more Spam, I'm not keen to leave my email, but please visit our web site and if it sparks your interest, use the emails on the site to contact me. I'd really love you to be involved, as you run a great blog.
Many thanks in advance!
Andrea.
Nice that you're back! Our family almost fell apart over our computer problems linked to getting broadband in the fall! So I know what you went through!
