In a country of uninspired green mailboxes I feel content that I am able to distinguish myself, even just a little from the rest of the crowd. The other day I heard the tourist next door say on her mobile phone, "d'accord mais c'est a coté d'une maison avec une jolie boite-aux-lettres tout orné" it's next to a house with the pretty, decorated mailbox. Pride surged in my chest! My mailbox a point of reference for French tourists, imagine that!

Hi Chris--I do like your mailbox, but have a different request: I'm hoping you'll write more about your son's language acquisition--are you raising him bilingually? I'd love to hear about that process. I have a blog about teaching languages to young children via my teaching French to my baby nephew. Please come visit and share some ideas from your experience! In fact, if you're interested in having me profile him as a toddler acquiring two languages, write to me at babybilingual (at) gmail (dot) com. (By the way, I spent a year in Savoie and always enjoyed my trips to Lyon--I'm enjoying reading your posts about that area!)
Your mailbox is really beautiful! I'm sure it really makes an impression in Villeurbaine..
BTW, it's "lettres" on "Boîte aux..."
No, this mailbox would not last long in Villeurbanne I'm afraid. The mailbox is at our home in Savoie and we'll have to see just how long it lasts here.
Thanks for the correction btw ;)
