Oh brother it's les vacances

It's the vacance scolaire this week and next week and it's raining! I never used to pay much attention to the vacation schedule unless of course I was teaching, but with Little S in activities now and in morning daycare, I really notice the change. Suddenly we have no where to go! Suddenly we have nothing to do! I hope it doesn't rain the whole two weeks.

We baked a lot this weekend. I made sugar cookies which were deemed too sweet by Seb even though I barely sugared them. He's a hard man to please! Little S loved them and I thought they were okay but suspected that the little man may have added an extra pinch of salt when I wasn't looking.

I also made a yogurt cake but added two cups of pear confit to it. It was a really good cake, moist and buttery. I'd say if you follow that recipe it definitely need some tweaking. Make sure you read the notes the other people added at the end. Also if you're in living in Europe make sure you ask someone from the States to bring you a can of Clabber Girl baking powder! I don't use French single acting baking powder. It always leaves me with flat cakes.

This week we don't have much planned. We're seeing the American and her little girl of course. Unfortunately my new German friend Lily has her son who's three in ski classes so I don't think we'll see them at all this week. I'm sure he'll be exhausted by the afternoon! I'm a little disappointed that Little S can't ski this year. He loves hanging out with his new friend and I know he'd have a great time. Besides I just realized he'll be five before he skies for the first time. There's no skiing in Mexico!

Seb spent the weekend pouring concrete in the living room. We are currently lodged up in Little S's room on the horrible foam mattresses, boo hiss. All of our living room stuff, meaning 50 percent of the stuff in our house, including our bed and personal items, are outside on the back deck. Fortunately everything is covered in plastic because the rain has been pretty much nonstop since we put everything out there. We can't nail the floor boards down for another two weeks. We have to wait for the concrete to dry completely. After that we have to varnish them so it's a long project. Small problem is that my mom is coming in one week. Oops! It seems like each time she comes we're in the middle of a big project. I hope she won't mind. She's supposed to be sleeping in the living room.

Okay well I'm off to watch Brother Bear with Little S again. Fortunately for me Disney thought to make a sequel.

Oh brother bear. Want to trade? here it's Cars over and over and over and over and....

A pox on the inventor of DVDs--no, not really but I can only handle this so often.

Fortunately we have a large variety to choose from. I heard that the Cars movie was stupid so I haven't presented him that one yet. I'll take your word on it.

This post inspired me to make two dozen chocolate chip (or really broken up Lindt chocolate bar) cookies, i blame you for the fact I had 4 for dinner!
I think I better bring the rest to work tomorrow.
I like the picture of Little S running across the wooden boards, very cute.
