Brico baby

He doesn't stop moving! This picture was taken upstairs in what will be Little S's new bedroom. He's always very excited when we go upstairs and see the work zone. It's like he's saying "Mommy I had no idea this was our house too!"

The work on the second and third floors is coming along well, finally. The bathroom is officially nearly done. Paint and closet shelves are all that's left on the punch list. The drywall in the bedrooms is up and it's starting to look like real rooms on the third floor. It's finally beginning to feel like a place where people and not wombats might make their home. And no I am not being sarcastic. There has been all manner of creature living up there for about 400 years. On occasion we have surprised a very strange brown critter with a striped tail, larger than a cat. He always escapes before we can identify him so we just call him The Wombat. But it's feeling like we might actually be claiming that space as our own now and if I squint real hard I can actually imagine a shower in my future master bathroom and not a lot of black dust and crusty rocks (and wombats). Well, ...I really have to squint HARD but it's kind of there whereas before it was frightening to think of people living up there.

Best of all, these days we no longer seem like the crazy fools of the neighborhood who bought the worst house in the village. The neighbors have actually complimented a few of our completed projects with surprised expressions and phrases like "wow, we had no idea you'd do this!"

So yeah we're feeling smug.
