Lost in the country

There is so much work to do in the new house it's almost overwhelming to think of where to start. I have been painting a lot in the upstairs bedrooms, anything to help us see the potential and look beyond the dirt! The entire upstairs will be torn out eventually though and we will have to live downstairs for a few months so painting is really a waste of time, but it's a nice little band aid for now. Besides we haven't even found a contractor to rebuild the upstairs yet.

We like our little village life outside the big city. Our town is really cute and we see a lot of the same faces as we run into the boulangerie or La Poste. It's hard to believe Paris is just 30 minutes away. On Saturday we had our first Paris visitor, a friend from Seb's old school and he being a diehard lifelong Parisian said he was completely charmed by our village and seduced by the possibility of moving near here. The train ride he said was wonderful and it only took him 36 minutes to get from the 19th arrondissement to our village gare on a Sunday afternoon. I haven't taken this train yet but I will someday soon. I think it's something I must do at least twice a month so I don't get trapped in small town life.

Okay I'm off to paint some furniture! Here is yet another backdated post from September.

The new house we're moving too is much more "countryfied" and villagey than where we are now and I'm both nervous about the isolation and looking forward to it at the same time. i don't reckon the painting is a waste of time. If you're like me you're living environment has such a strong effect on your mood.

I've been slowly catching up on your blog and it's lovely to see how much the kids have grown in such a short time and also what a great job you've done already on your house.

I must say I'm jealous that your gorgeous smiley girl has only just begun crawling. Both mine insisted on crawling at 6 months and I used to be racing around after them feeling very jealous of my friends with their calm babies who just stayed in the same spot when you put them down!

Lovely to know what's been going on with you for the past few months :)

Jemma happy to catch up on you guys too. Poor Charlotte has only just had a chance to crawl since we've been so mobile moving from house to house.

laura - it's the best of both worlds and best of all we don't have the Paris price tag :)

I'm glad to see you back blogging and renovating! I am curious as to where you are...we used to live in Avon/Fontainebleau and loved that area south of Paris.
