There is a funny phenomenon in French schools. The fathers often drop the kids off in the morning before work. It's kind of sweet the way they show up, father in business suit and little person grasping his hand. This morning I walked behind a little boy who rode on his dad's shoulders. I think this father often carries his son on his shoulders. I am amazed he has no regard for getting his coat dirty before work.
Seb works with several men who take their kids to school in the morning. It's acceptable in his company for the men to show up at nine o'clock. Meetings don't start until nine thirty because a lot of men show up later.
In Mexico the few times Seb took Little S to his school the mothers all commented and gushed. It wasn't so common for papa to drop off the children. I guess it's mama's job to do that! We always thought that was funny that they even noticed it.

My husband usually takes our son to school in the mornings too! It's fairly common here too. I think the best part of my husband's day is the drive to school with Jack.
Seb always likes it when he has a meeting on this side of town because it means he can take Little S to school. I think about 30-40 percent of the kids have the fathers dropping them off at his school.
It's probably a similar percentage at Jack's school too.
For us it's the same.
Maybe 40% working Mums, 40% working Papas and the other 20% are parents (99.9999% Mums) that stay at home.
So far all the drop-offs at the Spielgruppe (play-group, like pre-kindergarten) Small Boy has started are mamas, but when my husband is back from this trip he'll take over that job. He's also the one who brings SB to the baby-sitter. In our case it's just because we've noticed that there are far fewer tears involved in a Dada drop-off than a Mama drop-off.
I loved seeing the hot dads dropping their kids off at the school around the corner from my apartment in the 10ème. Memories!
Yes some are quite handsome, clean shaven in suits. Seb said last time he went that he thought the moms were really nice at the morning drop off. He said they were really friendly and that THREE said hello to him and one chatted him up. I said "Oh so *that's* how it is!" They don't even make eye contact with me but they can flirt with my husband. ha ha.
Hm. I am going to have to ask my husband about that! I thought he enjoyed taking Jack for the quality time with his son!!!
