Tequila!

Our sofa and chair are now outside in the storage room--we could only fit the loveseat--luckily everything was really well wrapped

We are still buried in boxes. It's going to be like that for a few weeks here. I'm still in awe that we have all this stuff.

The Mexican movers were totally amazing. All the expats talked about how efficient the Mexican moving companies were but we were skeptical because we've had such bad experiences with movers. The move from France to Mexico last year was a joke. These guys though, wow! It's almost too efficient. They wrapped everything. They wrapped a box of Q-tips for goodness sake. I mean that's a lot to unwrap. It's fun though and at times it's kind of like Christmas. They stashed our three bottles of real Mexican tequila in with the baby clothes. You aren't allowed to transport liquor or food and they hid it for us. Great movers! Yes!...oh and party at my house folks, after we get settled of course.

There is a slight problem though. Seb can't find his remote control for his MEGA-HUGE tv and he's really sad about it. The tv works in France which is good news (well sort of) but he's going mad opening all the boxes to see where it could be. I think it was in the bottom of the crate that they shipped the tv in which is now in the dump. I think this is the only bad thing the Mexican movers did, well that and mixing up all the baby clothes 0-24 months (agh!!)but otherwise we're feeling pretty good about everything.

Amen. I'm so glad this whole move is finally over with!

I wouldn't care about the remote either but you can't even turn the sucker on without the remote. Isn't modern technology wonderful? We've come so far.

Now there is a good idea for his Christmas present, a new remote :)

Ha ha! The tequila made it but the remote did not. Hmmm. I guess that shows that the Mexican movers had their priorities straight.

I love the way they wrapped your sofa. That is amazing. I want those movers next time we have to move. I always have to do everything myself and none of the furniture gets packed!

I hope the remote turns up somewhere. I have also had some pretty strange moving experiences through the years. The worst was getting to France, the truck drivers didn't want to carry anything and they dumped our stuff (including a piano) on the street in the rain. We had to get a local mover to come and finish the job!

I don't think it is such a bad thing that the remote has disappeared, the dump is probably the best place for it!!
sorry!!!

Lucy - that's pretty bad. I can't believe they left you on the curb like that.

lune- I was somewhat happy but then again I do like watching my chick flicks on the big tv. I just wish we had a screening room, Wouldn't that be amazing!? (and a popcorn machine too) I'm a movie junkie but I'm pretty much anti TV (except the Discovery channel and decorating shows and a some other stray things...) My big pet peeve is televised sports, No NO and NO!

Hah! We got cable just so I could watch the World Cup (football) and I would have liked it for rugby too. But it's been a long time since we canceled it. I'm tempted to get cable again just for the good footie and rugby! As it is we'll lose everything as it's going all digital soon.

No remote would be good in this house, since a little someone covets it....

Good luck unpacking! Glad to hear overall the move was a success, esp. for the tequila. Smart movers.

Just the idea of moving makes me cringe. Have fun unpacking, that's the fun part :)

Sure we used these guys http://www.trafimarrelo.com.mx/

My only complaint has been that yes they were super organized and wrapped everything well but they arranged things according to their logic not at all considering us. For example the baby clothes which were grouped all together as "ropa" was a nightmare. And all the round items in the house were grouped so like bowls for the kitchen were grouped with round containers from my closet of all place, --LOTS of that. We've since been going nuts trying to find things. Our curtain rods were in a package with several long items (like the bars for our armoire which we looked for for three weeks) but we still can't find out where the rest of the rod's parts are. The screws and end pieces and hanging mantles are gone and probably in a box somehwere with similar shaped items knowwing their logic. I'd ask them to mark clearly on the boxes where the parts to things are if I were you. We may never regroup it all and it's been really hard to get the house in order without unwrapping every single thing right away.
