Rue de Babylone

If you had a few million to spare you were probably at this auction yesterday, or maybe you were like me just drooling over all of the amazing pieces they had stuffed in that apartment. The Picasso didn't sell, didn't fetch its bid and was overvalued because apparently Picassos are a dime a dozen these days. Little S remarked as he passed it full screen on my computer "I only like it just a little bit." I liked it a lot actually but 30 million euros is a lot of money. Hopefully its destiny is to end up in a local museum.

I wanted to go see the pre auction exhibit myself and would have tried if we hadn't been off travelling this weekend (more on that later). I don't think the public got a great view of the pieces but I think it was an opportunity to catch a glimpse of history and I really wanted to see the Mondrian in person that inspired Saint Laurent to design this dress*.

*you can see this actual dress at the MOMA in New York.
