Bye-bye uglies

Remember the ugly wallpaper in the hallway. How could you forget, right? Well it's in the poubelle! No more creepy ivy! A neighbor friend loaned me their wallpaper steamer and I attacked nearly the whole house. Yes me, (even if you see Seb in that photo he only did the scary parts that required dangling from a ladder) I did it all.

Taking off wallpaper is tedious but rewarding. A few hours for each section and *poof* suddenly the house looks and smells completely different. The only problem is the walls look very ghetto. We have a lot of washing, filling and sanding to do. And I mean A LOT.

After the paper was all down we decided to tear out the wall to the future office since it was on the to do list (sneak peek in this next photo). It wasn't necessarily something we'd planned on doing just yet but we were really curious to see what it would be like when it was opened up since it meant more light. It was like the house could breathe! The hallway has a lot of light now thanks to the little window and the office space is actually quite big. A place for our computer in a few months with a view of a horse pasture!

I'll post more before and afters tomorrow.

Wow what a difference! At least in the photo, I think the wall looks pretty cool as is. I might be tempted to scrub it and polyurethane it, but I bet in person its a different thing altogether. Love love love renovation stuff. Living vicariously I guess. (its easier that way!)

Don't worry, I'll keep reading. Your photos were not shrunken in the old posts, I don't know why. I love your photos! My hubby is a photojournalist and I see great photos all the time, yours are right up there. I especially love the ones of ordinary things...dirty dishes and the like. Best of all are the ones by little S. His photo of the reflection of his dad in the wet car was pure genius. Love all of them.

It's going to look great! Good for you for getting all that wallpaper down. I can't believe you did that by yourself! But it must be so nice to have it out of there.

I didn't have time to post a comment to your previous post but I am also so impressed by your art classes. I wish we lived closer so I could bring my kids too.

Rebecca - I like the old walls too, cleaned up and patched of course, but Seb is a little bit of a perfectionist and he prefers his chic without the shab (go figure).

Jennifer - Thanks, it's definitely smelling better. It's less musty.
