A little man's bedroom

I haven't shared much of the house's progress lately but since we've been working every night getting the kids bedrooms done I thought it would be fun to show off some of the work. We aren't pros so it's probably taking us ten times longer than it would a normal contractor. In the last week though we've managed to get S's bedroom completely taped and mudded and partially sanded with no bumps or air pockets, (hmmm, slightly better than the "pro" we initially hired and who started Charlotte's room).

These are progress pictures of S's room. Excuse our mess but it's a work zone!

There will be windows up there eventually in those triangles and we'll be either sanding the beams or whitewashing them, --jury is still out on that.



Before there was a drop ceiling in the bedroom (full of mouse poop!) and some crazy green bamboo motif wallpaper. Now, there's a 12ft ceiling and this great feeling of open space. I can't wait to decorate it but those ceilings won't be fun to paint. The play area is on the right (see photo below).


His play area, --looks very dismal for now but should be nice when it's finished. This was our idea to use the extra attic space nixed by nearly everyone who saw our plans. They thought it would look odd. It was either make one huge bedroom and one small one or give each kid a little play area in each room. I like this idea because later this can be an office/study area and I think it works perfectly as a private little niche. It just looked odd on paper when we first drew the plans.

On my Flickr pages there's a description of the giant window in S's room and the little problem we have with it and the window guys. We can't do much finishing on that wall until we get the new window so S's room unfortunately won't be completely done until after Christmas.
