So here's the before... (with the wrought iron window grills removed for painting)
...and the after! (you can't see the iron grills very well in this photo but they're back in)
I actually liked the old entry tile but since the floors were sagging it made it hard to properly install the new door so I finally relented as long as we got something that looked like it might have always been in the house. The biggest reward is when people ask "did you clean the old floors or something?" Yay it's what I had hoped, nothing too shocking and keeping in the style of the house.
Now we just have to redo the baseboards and paint.
Another project that's finished is the living room floor. We chose a prefinished oak, a little light for my taste but we LOVE our new floors. I'll do a better picture next week when I can show off my Christmas tree at the same time. Right now the tree lights aren't working and it's bugging me. For now here's a sneak peek of where the hall tile joins the living room.

Oooh I like it. I like it best in the last picture, where you can really see the pattern.
I LOVED the old tile though. It's bad you couldn't save it. But you did do well with your choice. Can't wait to see the living room.
You must be so excited as it comes together!
Beautiful! Love it! :)
It looks great! I love how the new tile really works in the old house. Looks great with the door too.
I was just meeting with our contractor to finish off the room F has been working on like a madman, and he was suggesting finishing off some other areas as well at the same time. I'm so excited! Just hope this baby doesn't come early.
Thanks. We *are* excited. It will be much more fun to show off once the hall gets painted. I'm eager to paint!
I likes it Mikey!
oh, it must give you such pleasure each time you enter and leave the house! funny how quality of life is really improved by such things..
I love it and can't wait to see your tree, too!
That tile DOES look like it belongs in the house - great job! We have des tomettes as well, and our living room is riddled with bumps, so much so that I'm scared to even think abuot trying to change it!
good job of picking the new tile. I'm with you, I adore the old tile (yours is no exception) and it would be really hard for me to change out. You're lucky in that what you picked looks like it belongs and has been there some time.
