My excursion

We're back from our Shanghai trip. What? you say, we didn't even know you left! Okay it's not something I wanted to post on the blog sorry. But I'm back now.

We had a fabulous time and I love, love LOVE the city. It wasn't anything like what I expected. It was so incredibly cosmopolitan, modern, lively and surprisingly it feels like the center of where it's at today, especially with the World Expo coming in a few months. The skyline is like something out of Star Wars! AMAZING. I think I took a thousand pictures and that was just on my SLR camera. I just wanted to take huge bites out of the city and savor every second.

I'm going to prepare you to be bored with China stories for the next few weeks. I won't be able to help myself.

By the way Blogger is blocked in China so I couldn't check my blog or anyone elses for that matter. I didn't have much internet time anyway but it was kind of shocking to realize that my daily fix of reading was censored. I'm not sure why Blogger in particular is blocked because many other sites aren't like Flickr and Twitter, odd.

Oooh how exciting! Was it the whole family or just you two adults? Looking forward to seeing the photos, I'm sure I won't be bored! How strange blogger was blocked, I wonder why? :-S

I thought you might have been on your trip. It sounds like you had a lovely time and I can't wait to see the pics!

OK - you have made us wait long enough - tell us all about the trip - in mind numbing detail with pictures to boot. OK, let me get a cocktail and put my feet up - this will be so good.

Can't wait to hear more about it!
On a different note, this article made me think of your post from a few weeks back http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/women/article7070165.ece
I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it and how it relates to your experiences in France.

Jemma - it was just Seb and me. a whole week!!

Lucy - we stayed in the Mansions hotel on the Bund, a hotel from the 30's.

P - I'm buried in work since I've been back,--I haven't even uploaded my photos yet.

Cheris - What a great article! I think it reflects my mom's generation (same age as the author) who HATES seeing me dote too much on the kids. She really doesn't understand why I do so much and why on earth I breastfeed etc. What the article doesn't mention is that some women (me) enjoy the pleasure they get from doing too much for their children. I love making organic baby food and using cloth diapers is actually fun. The author is thinking that these women are martyrs but I think they (we) actually enjoy it. I do agree with her saying that there's a lot of pressure in French hospitals to bf. I felt that pressure but then again it helped push me to do it. I'm not sure it's right though.

I tell you the French are really starting to get into attachment parenting. I've seen a lot of moms in our village the past six months wearing their babies!! It's becoming trendy!
