The nose did run

Baby S has contracted his first illness, a bad cold. With his drippy nose and constant sneezing and coughing he's a bear! He's grumpier than ever and well,we can say that he's very much like his father in that respect. Seb is immpossible to be around when he's sick. His needs levels skyrocket and excuse me, EXCUSE ME but isn't HE the epicenter of the domestic unverse? Well, that's what he thinks anyway. Meanwhile I run around exhausted handing him, pens, pillows, remote controls and preparing his grandfather's calvados 'recovery' recipe.*

Baby S proved his similarity to his father goes deeper than his nordic looks yesterday when he laid completely spraddled out on the floor and did this creepy "waaaaaaaaah-haaaaaa-haaaa" scream. Then he looked at me preparing his bottle and started "wah, wah, wah-ing" until I picked him up. Once I picked him up he seemed to look at me as if to say, "what TOOK you so long!" He's been like that for two days now. Very needy. He isn't old enough to demand that I fetch the remote control yet but I see it coming. One day BOTH will be sick and I'll have to just call my mother-in-law from the airport and say, "the key is under the doormat--I'll be back in a week."

I'm pleased that baby S hasn't been sick since he was born. He either has a great immune system or he's just not been exposed to enough little ones to ever become ill. Either way I've been lucky to have such a healthy little guy.

*A shot of calvados apple brandy (over 90 proof!) mixed in warm milk and honey. Drink fast and bury yourself under warm blankets. Best drunk before bedtime.
