Can I just say that having guests over is SOooo nice. I had almost forgotten how nice. Like I said it's been eons since anyone has braved my doorstep with their sleeping bag slung over their shoulder. I just wanted to kidnap Riana and hide her in a closet or something. I mean if I had closets that is. We had a really nice time chatting and shopping for treasures and I didn't want her to leave my funky house even though her allergies were saying get me out of this dusty prison joint...I beg of you lady!
What Riana did was actually pretty cool. She has a few other blog friends in the Geneva area and so she did a little buddy tour. She got to meet a few people she'd bonded with online and stayed overnight (or two) with a few of them, including me. She actually did the tour of the whole lake and let me tell you that Lake Léman is no small lake! Her hubs was a little travel weary, but he's definitely a sport to sit there and listen to women gabbing in English for five days straight. I'm not sure Seb would tolerate that much chattering but Benji is very laid back and he also tells some pretty funny stories like the one about people painting themselves blue and throwing themselves at the shutters of his house.
Riana and I have a ton of things in common so I'm really pleased to have stalked* her and discovered her as a friend, and not just an invisible cyber friend now but a name with a face and pretty, red henna- inspired hair. Okay, so she'll tell you that she's not really a redhead and it was all an awful chemical accident, but it looks natural so you'll just shake your head and say "yeah, sure honey...whatever" She actually is very pretty of the tall, lanky elegant variety, but not the glamour puss I suspected she might be. She was really casual about the whole "brush your teeth over there" and "go outside and shower" thing. And she just kind of went with it. I suspect that has something to do with her Seattle background, you know the Grunge Goddesses Unite movement. But she does Grunge Goddess much better than I do so she managed to look great over the two days she stayed with me.
So I have proof now. Our house is tolerable in small doses. Umm, okay so where have all my visitors been hiding out since May?

Sounds like you have a nice Ameican gal pal there. I have a friend like that (who I happened to meet online through an expat site), and the feeling of having that kind of friend is so, so, nice.
There are other expat blog buddies that I would certainly like to meet up with, but everyone seems so spread out.
Well Miss, once we get more settled here (like our own apt.! lol)....if you're ever in the Lille area, feel free to stop by! ;o)
Hi Everybody!!!
We had a wonderful time at CampLand Chris...it wasn't that bad, seriously, I really didnt need a shower (It was snowing and I wasnt ready to brave the outdoors) so I was just a smelly guest. But now I feel bad that she got it all painted for us :(
The house is going to be fabulous when its done and I'm glad that I got to see it from its humble beginings so that I will appreciate so much more with them later! (I think I am going to help paint)
Misschris and I were like long lost sisters reunited again! I feel so blessed to have a wonderful friend like her so kind and giving and fun and a wonderful mother and generous friend (I promise not to break your margarita glasses, olé!)
xxoo
Riana
I'm glad you two had a good time. :)
hey that's really cool - I found your blog through Kim today and I used to live on the shores of Lac Leman also, in Montreux in Fact. And yes the lake is large and beautiful and total paradise!
