Tomorrow my mom will be flying in to Geneva for a three week visit. I'm so excited to see her. I've missed her so much this past year.
After a whirlwind trip to Lyon yesterday by train to fetch the car Little S and I are beat. I've been putting off going to get that stupid car for three weeks now...it's too hot, I'm too tired, I don't wanna...but now we had no choice because I need it here lakeside. So it was a fun day yesterday afternoon taking the train to Lyon and arriving tired to the strange, empty Lyonnais apartment. We left early this morning by car taking the loooong way to avoid the tolls. I'm not complaining though because it's all for a very good cause...mom!
I've got so much housework to do. Earlier this week instead of cleaning the house I painted a wall on the terrace. A total distraction to keep from cleaning you see because who on earth wants to clean, not me! I potted plants, chatted with my neighbors about the weather and washed my steps with a bristled brush and bleach. So okay, the terrace and the outside of the house look great but the house is a huge mess. I have to get on that now in fact ...
The hardest thing about having international guests is guessing about what they'll want their first 24 hours. I'm always stressed out trying to second guess them, trying to make sure they're going to be happy that first jet lagged, overtired day. For my sister's visit I made up a huge, cushy bed upstairs and closed the shutters. I stoked up the fireplace and had Van Houten chocolat chaud ready to go for her and her bulldozer when they showed up. I even had slippers and robes for them to borrow. When they finally showed up they were wide awake, wanted large coffees and wanted to tour the town for three hours and find lunch ...at 4:00 in France mind you, impossible. I'm pretty sure my mom won't want to tour the town or chow down. I bet she'll just appreciate a quiet place to crash and some wonderful, homemade lemonade with jumbo ice cubes.
I'm having a hard time uploading pictures to blogger but then again I haven't really investigated the problem too deeply. I really enjoy posting pictures so never fear. When I have time I'll be posting lots of catch up photos.

Enjoy your visit with your Mom! I laughed hysterically at your comment below about S peeing on the electrical cords. I have been trying to potty train my youngest and his accident on the floor this week seems quite tame ater reading about S's "accident" :)
Sometimes photos just won't post to Blogger. It can last for hours...Have fun with your mom!
