It's always fun when you write a lengthy Monday morning post going on and on about your weekend and a little demonic elfin person pushes the pretty blue button on the computer. All gone! bye-bye!
No I will not recap the weekend. It was relatively uneventful anyway. We worked in the house. We bought the 'bac' for our shower. blah blah blah Maybe Little S needs to push the button on more of my boring posts.
One funny thing happened. On Sunday I got a call from a Scandanavian woman who said in perfect english "I'm answering your ad!" After a few minutes of confusion I realized it was an ad I'd put in the local baby troc two years ago! I'd said something like "would anyone like to start a children's reading group in English or just you know hang out?" I never got any takers (testimony to how many expats are in this area or how many French moms are interested in meeting English speakers...err) Anyway she sounded really nice and she has a little boy age three so we agreed to meet up this week. She even invited us to her son's birthday this week. I was really happy because frankly I've been really lonely lately. My friend Huri is in Turkey for two months, my friend Mathilde is a full time teacher so she's always so stressed and busy that our visits have become like summit meetings. We try to do tea time on Mondays at four but that's been off a lot lately too. Then there's Cassandra who I like a lot but she has the social calendar of a Savannah debutante. Cassandra is hard to pin down. So hopefully Lily and I will find some common ground. I'm really looking forward to meeting her tomorrow.
In other news I found a parent run daycare center for Little S. To put a kid in you have to volunteer a day a month or something like that. I was totally game for it. Anyway on visiting the facility I was really turned off. It's in the worst part of town. There was garbage in the streets! The woman who answered the bell at the facility was sloven and had on dirty house slippers. I was getting super negative vibes and when she refused to let me look inside beyond the reception area because it was against regulations, okay whatever, I just said to myself "no, no I won't leave my child here." I was really disappointed. It seemed like a good solution to getting Little S in with some kids.
I'm still on the hunt for the daycare center. Oh and I'm looking around for Spanish lessons too. Seb and I are going to try and take something together one full day a month for the next six months in Geneva. From past teaching experience I know how good it is to have intensive language classes. I think intensive is best. We only have 40 hours total to get us started. I hope we find a good teacher and we make some progress!

All my years of Spanish helped me learn French quickly. I bet it will be the same for you, 'cept in reverse!
Sorry about the daycare. It took me many visits and hair pulling episodes to finally find the right place. Good luck!
I think I have a plan for the daycare . Yipee!
