A bathroom fit for a queen

Our bathroom is fairly well finished and boy are we in heaven. Four years without a proper bathroom is a long time.

There's just some painting to finish up (a lot of painting actually!), a door to shim because it won't close right, a few lights to install and then voila! we will be able to say that one actual room in the house is completely finished. That is a huge milestone worthy of several bottles of champagne believe me!

The guys are taking a bath together. The tub needs work. We have to get a new brass pipe for underneath because the plastic pipe is just a quick fix. We also have to paint the outside of the tub a nice sable. I've done one coat since this photo was taken and I'm really pleased with the results. It looks like suede, very pretty.

The shower is great. It's the biggest shower in France! Five people could fit in there. You know if you were all friends or whatever.

These little niches on either side of the sink were a nightmare. I asked our contracter to make them in the wall and he ended up making these enormous square wall boxes that looked awful. He was really nice in doing it as a favor for the "little woman" so I didn't want to insult him by saying it wasn't anywhere near what I wanted. Then he wanted to line it all with laminated wood and I finally just said "can you just make them much smaller and put an arch in and leave it at that?" They're still much wider than what I had in mind but I think they look pretty good now. We'll put glass shelves in later and then I'll have a place for all my perfume bottles. I would have like to ask him to put in lights in the top but I thought that might be pushing it too far. I think he secretly slashes up pictures of me at night before he goes to bed as it is.

Seb has taken over the painting for now since I'm on a painter hiatus. I did do the primer coat though so I'm not completely worthless!

Beautiful bathroom, Chris! As with all good things, I'm sure it was worth the wait. Glad Seb can take over painting duties. : )

I can't believe how handsome Little Seb is. The cuteness is slaying me!
