Charlotte received an awesome gift from one of my blog friends, a beautiful rainbow collection of diapers all the way from Australia (well,...via Annecy). We love them and are totally sold on Fuzzibunz now.
With Little S and up to now we have used Motherease diapers and we were pretty happy with them because they adjust from newborn to age three, --incredible but true. They're a tad bulky though and since they aren't all-in-one diapers there is the extra step of putting the diaper cover on. They´re also kind of uncomfortable if they aren´t air fluffed in the dryer. I don´t have a dryer anymore so poor Charlotte has these concrete diapers scruffing up against her skin which she must have been hating for the past months. Also the elastic in the snap on cover is a bit tight and sometimes she has been getting these red marks on her legs from them.
Fuzzibunz are great though! They´re easy to use, soft and comfy and they have a liner which fits inside of them that you can just take out and soak in the diaper pail without having to soak the entire diaper--brilliant idea.
I think I will try to make a Fuzzibunz style diaper myself. The design is really simple and great. It will be a fun challenge and I can add some more colors and designs to her diaper wardrobe.

I'm coming to you for mommy tips some day.
Ah, this warms my heart to see them being put to such good use. I was so in love with them once... BTW I also had a go at sewing some and they didnt turn out too bad. I hope you continue to enjoy them and thanks again for the wonderful clothes
OOPs obviously that was me Penny! I'm on David's computer and I cant attest to the fact that he has never sewn a thing in his life, nor does he get mushy at the thought of fuzzi bunz!
Penny :)
haha I was impressed at first that a guy was sewing diapers! Cool dad :)
My children all wore Fuzzibunz, they are really the best, such great colours too.
I really love reading your blog, too.
Good luck with the move back to France,

So sweet - baby and diapers both!
Those do look great! We use mostly prefolds and also don't have a dryer. Generally, vinegar works as a fabric softner without taking away the absorbency, then we wring them a bit once they're dry which helps get out the crunchiness. Little A has no idea of anything different ;) We do have some AIOs that I made (fairly easy since i bought the fabric pre-cut), but they just don't seem to work as well for some reason. I'm interested in trying others for the next one though, to try to convince daycare cloth is as easy as disposables.
She certainly looks happy in them!
Thanks ladies.
Cherise - I think you've been going through our same trials and tribulations if you're using pre-folds and that is a big, wet sopping mess of a diaper to change. I don't like asking anyone else to change them because I know it's sort of difficult and messy if you aren't used to it like we are. These diapers are cool because the insert comes out and drops in a pail or sack and then the diaper itself is relatively dry and mess free, so I'd be totally cool with asking mil and my mom to change the baby with these. Oh and I never knew about hemp liners but they absorb like nobody's business! That's another thing I have to thank you for Penny :) !
The vinegar is something I used in the past but nothing can soften Mexican water trust me! All of our clothes are like they've been doused in concrete, eeek!!
Oh, I wasn't complaining about the prefolds at all. I actually quite like them, and since my mom and most of my sisters used only prefolds at all, it's not shocking for them. I really don't find them to be a big mess, but I guess that's because I'm used to them. However my first daycare provider was grossed out by the concept of cloth entirely that I just got used to using disposables for daycare, and when we switched providers didn't bother to ask. Now we're working on potty training so I won't bother, but am thinking about it for #2. I'm not sure if she is used to cloth or not, but I figure it'll be an easier sell with the AIO-types as they're just like disposables. The key is to have as few pieces as possible I think. The whole thing would go straight into a bag anyway.
The fuzzibuns do sound appealing though. I may have to get a couple just to try them out.
BTW, if you do decide to sew them there are lots of websites out there where you can buy the PUL (cant remember what this stands for) that you use on the outside. I found some exactly the same as the fuzzi bunz. You can really waste lots of time on diaper sewing websites too (not that you have a lot of time on your hands!)
Penny :)
Oh my, they look SO AMAZING! I'm going to have to try to order some to give them a try... As usual, I'm behind on everything, but I keep telling myself that it's OK if in the beginning months I do some disposables until I'm able to make the time for the cloth diapers. But these Fuzzibunz really look wonderful! Maybe I can ask an Australian friend of mine to send me some? I wonder if they ship to France... I'm off to check out the website now!
I had already been told about Bum Genius, and I know that Andie from C'est ma vie orders them on eBay, but I haven't gone all out in my research yet... I need to get cracking!
I'm not so sure Fuzzi's are an Aussie brand. I'll have to check. I was just teasing because Penny is an Aussie expat and she brought them to France in her move and then my husband met up with her and got them--funny blog swap story!
Using disposables the first few weeks is smart because of the nasty black, newborn poop that can stain the diapers.
