Chaos in renovating

We have a fun weekend planned of sanding plaster so that we can finish our downstairs bedroom. That means plaster dust in the breakfast bowls Sunday morning. Oh the joys of renovating again! We are completely addicted to chaos. I don't care. I love redoing old houses.

Are you bored yet? The last two backdated posts are here and here (or you can just scroll back to September).

Wow. I just read the backdated posts. Things are working out so well for you guys. I am so happy for you! I love seeing the pictures of the house and am so curious to see how it progresses.

I'm so anxious to see your progress, and so impressed! How do you manage to do the work with the little ones around? Once A was born our progress slowed significantly. We've picked up the pace again, but still find it hard to do a lot of the interior stuff with her around. She's either trying to use all the tools (giving her toy versions doesn't help), climb up ladders, and rolling in the mess - which wouldn't be so bad except we have loads of lead paint...

What's your trick?

And if it makes you feel any better - here's some pictures of our kitchen when we bought the house (minus the appliances, but with all the years of cr*p) http://cheriseandfredo.blogspot.com/2006/02/kitchen.html

Cherise it's hard to renovate with kids but right now they are at good ages, one and four. Little S is able to "help" without being underfoot (at two this was impossible!) and Charlotte is too little to get into things yet. She's still "plantable"

Your kitchen came out great! It gives me some hope. I am happy to see I'm not the only one who had to deal mouse droppings. Why is it that other people's dirt is so gross!? (the kitchen right now is probably just as dirty but you know now its MY dirt so its okay!!)

Ah, A is totally underfoot...as DH says "She's in my skirts!" I've turned to landscaping primarily for that reason - it was safe to have her nearby.

Thanks on the kitchen. It's not totally done but it's about 85% which is good enough for now (unless we have to sell next year - possible move to Europe). there were rats in the house too, when we cleaned, they all left. Our neighbor said he was trapping rats left and right the next few weeks. Ugh!

It was great to catch up - I'm missed reading your pieces and now feel like things are back in full swing. Good luck with the house, but I do envy your stamina and optimism.
